| Log home Compression |
|
Another factor that affects all wood is compression of the actual wood fiber. As weight is applied to wood fibers the cellular structure of the wood collapses and results in compression. This is especially evident in log homes in the interlocking corners. A good log home builder will understand these forces and allow for both shrinkage and compression by using the "over-scribe" technique to maintain tight joinery during seasoning. If you would like more information on why and how this method is superior to all other log joinery methods please call or email us we will be happy to explain. A reputable log home builder like Coast Mountain Log Homes will understand these forces and will make allowances during the construction process for them.
